Help is on the way for Indigenous communities across Canada combating the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.
Indigenous Services Canada is sending a total of 125 million dollars in Covid support funds to Indigenous communities across the country.
That includes an allocation to BC’s First Nations Health Authority, as well as to all First Nations, self-governing and modern treaty-holders.
Funding can be spent on: continued administration of vaccines and boosters, rapid testing, surge infrastructure, surge staff and resources, food security to support self-isolation, and pandemic response plans.
In addition, Indigenous communities may continue to request funding from the Indigenous Community Support Fund.
First Nations can also access contingency needs based public health funding.
