Residents of Burns Lake and surrounding areas are advised that the Emergency Department at Lakes District Hospital will be temporarily unavailable from 8:00 am Thursday, March 27 to 8:00 am Friday, March 28, due to staffing challenges. Northern Health is actively working to address the staffing issues and may resume services earlier if possible.
For life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pains, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, please call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available facility. Signage will be posted at the hospital, and local health services have been notified.
For non-urgent care, patients can access the NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic daily from 10 am to 10 pm at 1-844-645-7811. Indigenous people without a family doctor can use the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program by calling 1-855-344-3800.
