In 2025, the City of Prince Rupert will begin replacing critical water and sewer mains in the Crestview area, marking the first phase of a major overhaul of aging infrastructure on the city’s east side. Construction is set to start early in the new year, and an Open House event will be scheduled to provide residents with more details on the project.
Mayor Herb Pond emphasized the importance of these upgrades, acknowledging the disruption but stressing the need for long-term sustainability.
Key projects include replacing water lines along Frederick/Prince Rupert Blvd, Shawatlan Road, and the submarine water line beneath the harbor. Future work will impact areas like Crestview, Conrad, Victoria, 11th Avenue, and others.
Expected impacts for residents:
- Construction hours: 7 am – 5:30 pm, 7 days a week
- Parking restrictions and driveway access disruptions
- Intermittent boil water notices
- Dust, muddy roads, and gravel streets until spring
