Smithers RCMP are appealing for witnesses after a child had a close call with a vehicle on October 21 around 8:15 a.m.
The child was crossing Highway 16 on a walk signal when she was clipped by a dark, older model pickup truck making a left turn from Toronto Street.
The impact struck her backpack but fortunately did not result in serious injuries.
Police are emphasizing the need for driver attentiveness, reminding motorists that even a brief distraction can lead to dangerous situations.
