For the second year in a row, Canada Post is releasing a series of stamps to commemorate the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Canada Post worked closely with the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation’s Survivor’s Circle to determine the design of this year’s release.
Each of the stamps feature stoic archival images of former residential schools to serve as a reminder of the horrors faced by Indigenous children.
They feature the Kamloops, Ile-a-la-Crosse and Sept-Iles Residential Schools in BC, Quebec, and Saskatchewan respectively, and Grollier Hall in the Northwest Territories.
Canada Post says they hope the stamps can serve as a vehicle for the truth of the residential school system, and help to advance healing.
They will be released to post offices across the country tomorrow.
