Funding has finally been secured to develop a business case for bringing a withdrawal management and treatment centre to the Northwest.
Local communities have been arguing the human cost factor as a reason to bring a facility to the region for years.
But with efforts to lobby the Province turning up short, they’re now hoping a business argument will have more luck.
From there the Northwest Withdrawal Management Select Committee was formed to continue to advocate for the plan.
During the District’s regular meeting last Friday, the Committee learned that Cedar LNG would be providing $25,000 to go toward their work.
Now, the Regional District is developing a request for proposals for proponents interested in creating the case.
