A new provincial Skills Roadmap has been developed to help workers in the mining sector get the training they need.
Completed by the BC Centre of Training Excellence in Mining, the report fulfills a recommendation of the BC Mining Jobs Task Force.
It will help to enhance and align training to meet the future skills and labour needs of the mining sector, through a collaborative and inclusive approach.
More than 300 perspectives were gathered to advise the report, which also provides labour market information to help industry adapt to work-force needs.
In addition, the roadmap aims to help workers identify good-paying, satisfying careers, and to gain the skills needed to adjust to a rapidly evolving industry.
