Prince Rupert will soon see improved community services, thanks to new funding for local non-profits. BC NDP MLA Tamara Davidson announced that the Prince Rupert Racquet Association will receive $131,500 to make its facilities more accessible, including wheelchair-friendly upgrades to washrooms, the whirlpool and sauna room, and the kitchen area. This funding is part of a broader initiative, with 54 capital projects across the province receiving $5 million through the Community Gaming Grants program. These grants support essential equipment purchases and facility renovations for not-for-profit organizations, helping to improve the quality of life for people in B.C. The program also funds projects in arts, culture, sports, and social services, with up to $140 million distributed annually from provincial gambling revenue.
