Residents of Burns Lake are advised that the Emergency Department at Lakes District Hospital has closed this morning at 8:00 AM and will reopen 8:00 AM tomorrow morning, due to staffing shortages. Northern Health is working to fill vacant shifts and may resume services earlier if possible.
For life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pain or severe bleeding, residents should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available facility. Signs will be posted at the hospital with instructions.
Non-urgent care is available through the NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic 10 AM to 10 PM daily. Indigenous people can access the Virtual Doctor of the Day program from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. For minor ailments, residents can also book appointments with pharmacists through the provincial website.
For health advice, HealthLink BC (8-1-1) is available 24/7.
