Emergency Department services at St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof will be unavailable from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm today, due to staffing shortages. Northern Health is working to fill vacant shifts and may resume services earlier if possible.
For life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pains, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, residents should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest appropriate facility. Signage will be posted at the hospital to direct patients to call 9-1-1 when services are unavailable.
For non-urgent care, residents can contact the NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 from 10 am to 10 pm or use the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program at 1-855-344-3800. HealthLink BC (8-1-1) is also available for health advice.
Northern Health appreciates the community’s patience and support for health care staff during this time.
