Residents of Burns Lake and surrounding areas are advised that Emergency Department services at Lakes District Hospital will be unavailable from 3:00 pm today until 8:00 am tomorrow due to staffing shortages. Those experiencing life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pains or severe bleeding, should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available hospital.
For non-urgent medical needs, the NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic is available from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm daily at 1-844-645-7811. Indigenous residents can access the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program at 1-855-344-3800. Additionally, HealthLink BC is available 24/7 at 8-1-1 for health advice or to determine if an emergency room visit is necessary. Signage will be posted at the hospital to inform patients of these changes. Northern Health appreciates the community’s patience and support during this temporary disruption.
