Residents of Prince Rupert, Port Edward, and surrounding areas are advised that Emergency Department services at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital will be unavailable from 8 PM on March 23 to 4 PM on March 24 due to staffing challenges.
For life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, individuals should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available facility. Signage will be posted at the hospital, and local health services have been notified.
For non-urgent health needs, residents can access the NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 (open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM) for consultations with a family doctor or nurse practitioner. Indigenous residents can also use the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program by calling 1-855-344-3800 (7 AM to 4:30 PM, seven days a week).
Additional services include appointments with a pharmacist for minor ailments through the BC government’s Book-a-Pharmacist program. For health advice or if unsure about needing emergency care, residents can call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca.
The community is thanked for its patience and support during this time.
