Residents of Burns Lake and surrounding areas are advised that Emergency Department services at Lakes District Hospital will be unavailable from 3:00 PM today, March 24, until 8:00 AM tomorrow, March 25, due to staffing challenges.
For life-threatening emergencies, such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, individuals should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available facility. Signage will be posted at the hospital, and local health services have been notified.
For non-urgent health concerns, residents can access the NH Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic at 1-844-645-7811 (open daily from 10 AM to 10 PM) for consultations with a family doctor or nurse practitioner. Indigenous residents can also use the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program by calling 1-855-344-3800 (7 AM to 4:30 PM, seven days a week).
Additional services include booking appointments with a pharmacist for minor ailments through the BC government’s Book-a-Pharmacist program. For health advice or if uncertain about needing emergency care, residents can call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 or visit www.HealthLinkBC.ca.
