The Regional District of Bulkley-Nechako (RDBN) is in the process of finalizing its 2025 budget and Resource Benefits Alliance (RBA) funding plan, with both expected to be completed by the end of March. At a December board meeting, the RDBN discussed a draft proposal for the RBA budget, which is part of a $14.4 million allocation received from the provincial RBA agreement. These funds will be distributed over five years, with priorities including First Nations outreach and asset management.
This year’s proposed expenses include allocations for water tenders, First Nations liaison, and temporary asset management positions. A significant portion, $2.2 million, is earmarked for capital and project pool allocations. Last year’s projects included funding for the Knockholt Landfill and Vanderhoof Transfer Station, reducing the opening 2024 balance to just over $2 million. The remaining funds will carry over into 2025, bringing the total to $5 million for the year.
