Residents of Fort St. James are being informed of a temporary closure of the Emergency Department at Stuart Lake Hospital. Due to staffing challenges, the Emergency Department will be unavailable from 4:00 pm today (Monday, January 6) until 8:00 am tomorrow (Tuesday, January 7).
Anyone experiencing a life-threatening emergency, such as chest pains, difficulty breathing, or severe bleeding, should call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available facility. For non-urgent care, individuals can contact the Northern Health Virtual Primary & Community Care Clinic at 1-844-645-7811, available daily from 10 am to 10 pm. Indigenous people in BC can access virtual appointments through the First Nations Virtual Doctor of the Day program by calling 1-855-344-3800.
