A winter clothing drive held at The Garage in Terrace on Sunday was a big success, collecting essential items for those in need during the colder months. Local paramedics Royleen Wensvoort and Heather Hovland, along with The Garage’s executive director Sharon Bandstra, organized the event, which gathered adult-sized winter boots, jackets, snow pants, gloves, toques, scarves, socks, and cash donations. The community showed strong support, raising $670 for the cause.
The funds will be used to purchase additional items like gloves, hand warmers, and other winter necessities. Last year’s donations included thick women’s leggings, which were particularly appreciated by those living in shelters or outdoors. Wensvoort, who often treats people facing homelessness, said the drive was a chance to give back in a meaningful way.
Bandstra expressed gratitude for the efforts of the paramedics and the local community. The donations will help ensure that people in need stay warm during the harsh winter season.
