LNG Canada has informed the public that intermittent flaring at its Kitimat facility will reach heights of up to 25 metres over a 20-day period starting TODAY
This follows earlier notifications of 20-metre flaring due to incinerator burner testing and winterization efforts scheduled over the next two months.
Residents may notice increased noise and visible emissions from the flaring during this time.
LNG Canada emphasized that flaring variations are a normal part of the facility’s commissioning process, which began on September 1 with the first delivery of natural gas via the Coastal GasLink pipeline.
The company remains committed to keeping the community and the BC Energy Regulator informed of any changes.
Residents with questions or concerns can contact LNG Canada at 1-833-632-LNGC (5642). For more information on flaring activities, visit lngcanada.ca/safestartup.
