Located In The Heart Of Vancouver, The Centre Will Be A Transformative Justice Hub That Indigenous People Can Access For Support And Services They Need Including Lawyers Who Have Special Training In Culturally Appropriate Approaches To Aboriginals And The Issues They Face. They Also Provide Elders And Knowledge Keepers Who Can Support Alternative Pathways Yo Healing And Justice.
Navigating A Colonial Justice System Has Been A Major Problem For Aboriginals. It’s Not Only Challenging, But Also Alienating And Frustrating. The Existing Justice System Negatively Impacts All Areas Of Aboriginal Life From Mental Health To Housing To Employment. To Correct The Past Shortcomings, The Justice Centre Will Connect Indigenous People To A Wide Range Of Legal Services And Supports.
The Centre Will Also Be A Rally Point For Those Who Are Working To Transform The Justice System, Assert Sovereignty Over Law And Restore Aboriginal Solutions At The Community Level.
