A newly inked Memorandum of Understanding between the Province and McLeod Lake Indian Band will guide a pair of new clean energy projects.
It lays the groundwork for the Band’s proposed Tse’Khene Energy Transition Hub, planned for their Kerry Lake East Reserve.
Currently, the Band is working on agreements with several world-class industry partners to help develop a pair of proposed projects.
One will see a hydrogen plant constructed to significantly reduce emissions produced by local industries that are difficult to decarbonize.
Another would build a straddle plant, which would extract high-value natural gas liquids normally burned as by-products in the distribution system.
Together, the projects are valued at an estimated $7 billion, and could create as many as 500 permanent jobs, and 2,000 during construction.
