McKay is a noted advocate for the north, who has been a provincially-appointed representative on the Board since 2020.
He also holds a Bachelor in Journalism from Kwantlen Polytechnic University, and spent years as a business, tech and industry-focused journalist.
Last year, McKay published an award winning horror novel titled Wolf at the Door, and will soon be a graduate student of UNBC’s English Literature course.
His resume also includes the Don Rennie Award for Excellence in Government Communication, among numerous other honours.
Out-going Chair of two years Catherine Wishart will remain on the Board, and Vice-Chair Michael Reed will hold on to his spot.
