BC’s Independent Investigations Office is looking into an incident in Kitimat from last month which saw a woman injured while being apprehended.
RCMP had been responding to reports of a disturbance at a residence on the 1300 block of Tweedsmuir Avenue at around 2:30 in the morning on March 26th.
Officers would end up arresting one woman, but she would suffer a serious injury to an extremity while being taken in to custody.
Now, the IIO have launched an initial investigation as they look to confirm the events that occurred during the arrest.
Anyone with information or video footage which may help in the investigation is asked to contact the IIO at 1 855 446 8477.
Ultimately, investigators will be looking to determine whether or not police actions are to blame for the woman’s injury.
