Freshwater angling fees will be going up in BC this year for the first time in nearly two decades.
Angling license fees will increase by 9.9 percent for the 2023-24 licensing year, and by an additional 4 percent the following year.
That means that the cost of a basic adult license will go from $36 to $39.56 later this year, and then to $41.15 in 2024.
100 percent of the revenue generated from the fees goes to the Freshwater Fisheries Society of BC and Habitat Conservation Trust Foundation.
With the new funding, the province hopes to help both groups continue and expand upon their conservation endeavours.
