LNG Canada says they are close to finishing their billion-dollar project and it won’t be long before the sky in Kitimat lights up as the project begins to flare off excess natural gas.
The flaring is expected to begin late 2023 and will also see an increase in the number of workers on-site climbing to 7,500.
Up until now all of the construction has been at ground level, but Teresa Waddington, LNG’s sustainability and asset manager notes construction will now begin to reach new heights.
After the construction phase and mechanical completion, the project will move into the commissioning stage, which will be marked by the step by step start-up and testing of the system components.
The project is also looking for workers as Waddington noted that with LNG Canada being the only such facility in Canada, experienced workers will be hard come by so they are looking mostly for local people to train.
She stated that if you are interested in working for LNG, now is the time to put in an application….no previous experience needed.
