While it’s still the largest active wildfire in the province, the Wildfire Service has now listed the Blue River fire as being held.
That fire is still covering 11,000 hectares west of Highway 37 and north of Blue River near Lower Post, and is not threatening any homes or infrastructure.
But there are a number of wildfires burning in the province that are, including 6 wildfires of note, 4 of which are in the Kamloops Fire Centre.
Those prompting evacuation orders are: the 3,000 hectare Nahomin Creek fire near Lytton, a 2,200 hectare blaze along Keremeos Creek near Penticton, and an evac alert is in place northwest of Kamloops for a 195 hectare blaze near Watching Creek.
Fires north of Lilloet near Maria Creek, and west of Kaslo have also been listed as fires of note.
The final fire of note is one that covers 500 hectares near Connell Ridge, south of Cranbrook.
Meanwhile, campfires will join a ban alongside Category 2 and 3 fires in the Coastal Fire Centre, excluding Haida Gwaii, tomorrow.
