Bernadette Smith NDP MLA from Manitoba was in Terrace today helping bring awareness to the issue of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
She was at Kermodei Friendship Society today teaching the staff there about her toolkit. Smith created a toolkit to help families that are trying to find a loved one. Currently she works with different organizations along with police on education and understanding. As well as training police on the topic and issues surrounding Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
She is also behind other campaigns to bring awareness to the issues. The toolkit contains many forms including a customizable poster, media release as well as self care checklist. The full checklist can be found at the ka nik anichihk’s website.
